My friend, My Only Friend
Dr. Jervis, tangled in his thoughts, Alone, where his heart was fraught. Misjudgments and assumptions, easy mistakes, Don't worry, make-believe friends are all it takes! But, Alice, her rejection's a bitter ice, “To Wonderland! Where everything’s oh so nice!” Her dismissal stings, a wound he can't mend, Into his whimsical world, where friendships never end. Down Down Down The Rabbit hole he fell In Wonderland's wonder, under his own spell. From Carroll's creation, his mind did stray, Into Wonderland's depths, day by day. Reality bends, like threads undone, In Wonderland's embrace, the Hatter spun. “Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at! Up above the world you fly, Like a tea-tray in the sky.” Through tea-steeped dreams, his sadness sways, In Wonderland's whispers, his spirit ablaze. Cheshire's smiles and Alices, none, In his Wonderland, he’s the sole one. Alone he wanders, in hat and lace, Seeking friendship in this dismal place. A friend in hats, 'neath the setting sun, Yearning for connection, where none has begun. In shadows dim, he stands alone, 'My friend, my only friend,' his groan. His hat, his solace, through twilight's bend, In solitude, his heart never mends. Shunned by society's icy glance, Branded mad, left without a chance. Yet in his heart, a hope does unfurl, To find a bond in a kindred world So let us see, beyond his guise, To the man beneath, where truth lies. For in Gotham's shadows, where all is spun, Lies not a madman, but a lonely one.
